I was first given a copy of this book a year ago and its straight forward explanations of all things financial were so straight forward that it all suddenly made sense (unlike maths classes at school in years gone by!). I've since bought copies for my friends to share the wisdom. It really is a well written, amusing yet highly practical guide book to the mysterious world of finance. There are loads of money saving hints and also a lot to think about, such as the psychologies employed to make us buy stuff we don't really need and how we are tricked into buying insurances. Whether like me you have avoided all things financial or are a bit more clued up, I think there is something in there for every woman to discover. I urge all women to buy a copy for themselves and for their friends.

I did not like this book. I do not like books that dictate how one should live their life. I hate books that make women feel guilty for staying at home to take care of the kids as much as I deplore books that make women feel guilty for succeeding in a career. Women and men have to make difficult choices when they begin families and no one has the right to belittle those choices.

I can quite honestly say that this book is the most important thing I have ever purchased!

I did so after reading many glowing reviews of it here on Amazon and must say, it stands up to such high praise.

I was particularly grateful on the sections I have most fear and confusion about: Pensions and Investments. At the young(ish) age of 25 my knowledge of, and involvement in these areas is non existent and while I have always had an idea that they were important I knew less than nothing about how to navigate the very complicated systems. This book breaks everything down for the complete novice and takes away much of the mumbo jumbo so carefully designed to keep people like me in the dark about where to go and what to do. It also gives great tips for further help and reading once you've grasped the basics.

I have always consodered myself very money savvy (and for the most part I was correct) but seeing how many little nasty tricks various industries and companies play on us to part us from cash that we don't need to spend absolutely scandalised even me (and I have always been a highly circumspect and sceptical consumer). Many reviewers have said that they wish someone had given them this book earlier (in their 20s as opposed to their 30s or 40s) and i can understand why- I am very glad I read it at the relative beginning of my financial life, a time where I can make optimum use of it to secure my financial future- If you have a daughter, neice, grandaughter (or even son, nephew, grandson for that matter) who is starting their working life and wondering what to do with what they earn BUY THEM THIS BOOK! They will thank you for it one day in the future. I will certainly be passing my copy around.

I had half of these things in place but this book really pointed me in the right direction to get the other half of my finances sorted out and put me on track to financial freedom! It is such a surprisingly good read I just wish I'd found it a few years earlier.

I got this book recently and read it from cover to cover. Things like ISAs don't have direct relevance where I live (Republic of Ireland) but the author hits the nail on the head about the traps marketing folk set for mere mortals such as convincing us to go and get something new all the time, thus leaving us with less money and filling their coffers. She also points out that if one is in debt and has no savings, one has very few choices so changing this should give incentive enough to adopt a "short hands, long pockets" approach as encouraged by Eddie Hobbs. Love is not enough is a book that you can dip into as well as read from cover to cover as it has various items covered in separate chapters.
