This little book is worth its weight in, if not gold, then currency of your choice. It's a collection of good sense and helpful ideas. Like ML I would treat some tips with caution, but most are embraceable without a thought. When I was a proper person with a well-paid career, I still used my head when it came to consuming. Although working 12 hour shifts, I found time to prepare home made meals, and did all my own housework because a) I like cooking and b) I have fairly low standards when it comes to polishing taps. (No-one ever told me work was a bad thing either). Result I have homes in England and France, I can live very comfortably on my reduced income and I have even managed to make some savings grow. (Smugness level 10, maybe even 11) My main advice, you can always find time, you just have to NOT do something else. Like watching TV/DVDs maybe? This book is really helpful. The only place it won't help you is if it's left on the shelf because you think you're too stressed and possibly too disorganised to benefit. (Miserable Old Whatsit level definitely 11 - ignore me and just have fun saving money!).

I am already a big fan of Martin Lewis and receive his Money Saving Expert email so when I saw this book advertised I had to have it. It is full of useful money saving tips, especially when it comes to cleaning products. The suggestions in the book come from people who use the forum. There are some ideas I won't be using but it's the kind of book you can pick up and refer to when necessary. There is a good index, making it an easy to use book. Here is just one tip - last thing at night throw some leftover flat or cheap value cola down the toilets and round the sinks, they'll come up sparkling - a lot cheaper than fancy branded loo cleaners! I love this book.

This was not the book I expected. The copy I received was a duplicate copy of the book of the same title I purchased in 2007 and not the advertised copy however I have kept it as a spare.

This little book is a rehash of all the tips from previous books and the MSE site. I still bought this for my daughter for Christmas though as she is not at all thrifty and I am hoping that by reading it she might start to save money rather than spend it. I didnt learn anything new but I am a moneysaver anyway and I still find it interesting to read these books and could be easy reference for some-one who is just starting out so to speak. The most irritating thing about it is Martin Lewiss picture on the cover. Not so keen on Martin Lewis who spends all his time living on repeating himself year after year but then fortunatley you can rip off the cover if you dont want to look at him. I was a bit disappointed that I bought new and received a book from Amazon that had a creased cover which made it look not new.

Brilliant book, especially if you already subscribe (free of charge) to Martin's money tips. Very useful.
