I have read a fair few books on engine building and tuning. This is probably the most complete if you are looking for a book that will explain the basics of engine building (mostly based around American V8 Engines). Most of the topics covered are how to build an engine mainly to standard spec, there is a bit of content of engine tunning but minor stuff. The illustrations are good and explanations are clear. The only gripe I have with this book is that it doesn't cover european engines 4 or 6 cilinders in any detail.
i have found this book very usful while building my kit car! clear and well written. i would really recomend it.
This is a well written, easy to follow book. As a novice mechanic with no prior engine experience I found this book invaluable when reconditioning my Rover V8, the Haynes manual only goes so far. The author is honest and realistic. A 'must read'.
Very practical methods for racing and rebuilding engines. Every aspect is covered in this book with many assembly tips and useful pictures. A must for every serious engineer and engine builder as well as enthusiasts.
