This book is easy, on the surface to read, however it still can be fairly inpenetrable at times. The book also seems to assume there is only one reason for a website - for people to buy things. There are websites being set up, inculding the one I am undertaking, that is not commercial in the obvious way but still needs to be optimised.
I found it to be more of a big advert for a service you have to sign up for and pay a monthly fee, I returned the book and bought "search engine optimisation for dummies", you learn more from the inside cover on that than you can from this whole book.
Some reviewers had mentioned the complexity of this book and I have to agree that it seems to lack structure.
I am not exactly daft (having written two technical books myself) but I just could not get my head round this one.
Shame really as I had it express delivered at great cost.
Lots of sites mentioned in the book to help you get "up and running" do not exist. The website the author promises is of poor quality. As such I dont rate this book as anything other than a bit lazy really. I gave up trying to use it after so many of the suggested resources were not there.
After reading the reviews I excitedly brought this book and joined the forum (thank god it was free or I would have been very upset). As a previous reviewer said, the links don't work or are very very out of date. If anyone is intersted in keyword research this book will adequately explain it, but that's about it.
The 5 star reviews like the links in this book are terribly out of date. Save your money as some of the terms in this book you can easily found if you look them up on the internet yourself with more relevent and up to date information (as SEO is very fast moving). In my experience the forum was deserted and after a few weeks I was very very disappointed and cancelled my free supbscription.
I wish I could say something positive about this book but, here's hoping the next edition is more up to date than this edition.
