For a beginner this is an ideal starting place to learn the basics of what is fundamentally regarded as a difficult concept. Robbie makes this a very easy read and gives the lay person confidence that they can start trading shares. I highly recommend this especially if you are a beginner.

A very readable and informed book which gives a clear insight into share trading and because it is full of explanations and detail it enables one to retain the knowledge in ones memory.

this book was recommended to me after I been trading for a few months, and I am only sorry I didn't read it beforehand! Robbie Burns takes you through common pitfalls and how to recognise and avoid them. I have to say having been trading for a while there are no secrets of the universe in the book - nor I think does the author claim there to be. But the dos and donts are put over in such a readable way that anyone reading it will be a better trader afterwards...

I don't own a single share but would like to try to make a little bit of money through the markets. I read this book in a day (and will be re-reading it shortly) and I found it enormously useful and - naff though this might sound - really quite inspirational.

Like some other reviewers I found the plugging of the author's seminars and the Advfn website a bit bugging (especially when you log onto that site and see a link to the... Naked Trader site) but I wouldn't say that's a reason not to read the book.

Perhaps more experienced traders would find it all a bit basic, but he must be doing something right - look at the money he's making. And he seems to be very open about exactly how he does it and the mistakes he's made.

If you're starting out, or curious about how the whole stocks and shares thing works, I'd give this book a big thumbs up.

I would only recommend this book to anyone who has never bought shares before or is at a very early stage of investing.

The book starts by explaining the markets, the spread of bid and ask and how to choose a stockbrker (not surprisingly he recommends choosing the cheapest!). Briefly covers trading strategies and technical analysis but only from a high level.

In reference to the title, I doubt anyone could make money trading shares from just reading this book. A lot more research would be needed. I had read other books first (Jesse Livermore's How to Trade in Stocks & William O'Neils How to Make Money in Stocks) and found these to contain much more practical advice that could be used when investing.

In summary, if you've been trading a while or have read other investment books then this book is probably one to leave. However if you're very new to investing then definitely worth a read.
