Like all good teachers , Sally is able to educate and amuse simultaneously. A light hearted , but meaningful , jaunt through the perils and pleasures of spread betting , interspersed with amusing ,self - deprecating anecdotes of everyday life in Primrose Hill. An entertaining and worthwhile read. Tosh
To call this book dire would be a profound understatement. It is neither informative nor entertaining.I feel agrieved not only with the money wasted on the title , but the time that I wasted reading it.
I congratulate the author on having the skill and audacity in having such a poor book published.
The only positive thing that I can say about this flimsy book,is that once I had shredded it,it provided excellent litter for the cat's litter tray.
If the thought of spread betting kind of appeals but at first investigation it all looks a little too complicated - then this book is for you.
Written in a style that reminded me a little of John O'Farrell, (no bad thing), Ms Nicoll pulls off an idiot's guide to spreadbetting but with genuine humour the books in that series lack. I read it over a couple of days and it piqued my interest enough to have me investigating sites for a first foray into the world of 'stop loss' and 'binary betting'.
Oh, and the author is pretty cool too. I wrote to her to say how much I enjoyed the book and got a lovely reply with advice, and a bit of wit thrown in. She doesn't like Jeffrey Archer much, so for that alone - buy it!
A good fun read which wont take long to get through. Not for experienced spread betters but quite informative for about the last quarter. Sally Nicoll is a representitive for Financial Spreads which are mentioned/promoted quite a bit in the book but hey, if you're going to register with a SB company then you could do worse I suppose.
Recommended, especially for beginners.
Great little book.
I started spread betting a couple of months ago without knowing anything about it.
And now reading this book, I read about all the errors I'm making (two months has told me some, but I still do stupid sh**). Hopefully with Sally's advice (note: this is all about common-sense and typical mistakes rather than strategies; get other books to train up on technical topics) I'll shorten my learning curve and wisen up before I'm wiped out!
