I'm very new to spread betting and decided to do my research before parting with my cash. I bought several handbooks - and I also bought this as a lighter read. It was funny, insightful and made me understand some of the mistakes that first time traders make. The author doesn't claim that this is a guidebook on how to make cash - it's a diary of her experiences, and it's brilliant. Highly recommended and definitely worth a read if you're starting out in this financial world.

Slightly witty, but makes too light of the subject matter. No practical advice, nothing insightful, just a plug for Finspreads.
These is something about it, since I read the whole thing, but only because I liked being angry with it. So, if you want to wind yourself up and assure yourself that you are taking spreadbetting seriously and confirm the reasons why you think you will be successful, then read this. If you want to learn about spreadbetting, or get any serious advice, then don't.

Well worth the money and an excellent read. If that's what you want from a book I recommend this book to you.

However:
If you're thinking about spread-betting based solely on the contents of this book you will lose money. That simple. It barely takes you the first step on a very long journey and the book is littered with mistakes. Successful spread-betting is about your analysis of the underlying markets and is a zero sum game ie: for every pound you bet of your own money, some full-time professional trader in the square mile is betting against you. Fancy your chances?

Lastly, I would just like to point out the author admits to gambling away tens thousands of pounds of an inheritance. Full marks for honesty! Maybe all those 5 star reviewers forget this when they write things like, "this is the most wise piece of financial advice I've ever read"! Did we read the same book?

I am not a great reader of books I have a collection but nearly all are unfinished and I have owned for months / years. This is the first book I have ever read it took me 3 days to complete I just could not put it down. It is witty, interesting and educational also, I would recomend reading this as a starter looking into spread betting. I've been flirting with the idea all year and brought more educational spread betting books and became very bored very easily, this was alight entry in with a fair bit of education as well top marks for a top book.

An entertaining story with the occasional burried gem of advice. If nothing else, it creates a sense that you're not alone in what you're going through as a nascent trader.
